How do I become a member?
Membership is through registration and commitment to attend meetings and becoming part of a Focus Group working on specific issues. Emphasis is on interface, which means members have to meet and get know each and become part of the team and sharing your profile with other team members so that they know where you draw your contributions from. This is not a forum where people come to listen and go away, however the leadership will arrange public meetings for the Think Tank to present its findings from time to time.

Where is the organisation based?
The organisation is currently based in the UK where the founding members are based. We have received many enquiries from people across the globe asking whether we have branches across the globe. At the moment we have no chapters outside the UK but we would be glad to help the formation of a similar group if people need our help and subscribe to our modus operandi.

Are you part of the Global Zimbabwe Forum?
The Zimbabwe Diaspora Development Interface (ZDDI) leadership knows the leadership of the GZF at a personal level but our membership is still to decide on how to work with other Diaspora groups like the GZF. At the moment we are not part of the GZF. It is important to establish ourselves first before we can be part of any organisation.

When did you start the organisation?
The organisation started in September 2006, at the time known as the Zimbabwe Skills Network. The members were scattered across the UK and meetings were difficult to conduct and group went dormant for a while. In March 2008 the group evolved into the Zimbabwe Diaspora Forum UK and held its first meeting at the Brunei Gallery in London on 8th March 2008. At a follow up meeting held at the Power League Leisure Centre in Barking in Essex on 19th July 2008, the meeting decided that the organisation would serve Zimbabwe better as a Think Tank with members who could commit themselves to serve Zimbabwe from abroad. A subsequent seminar was held at the University London on 27th September 2008 where the Think Tank was formally constituted as the Zimbabwe Diaspora Development Interface.
